Roy Torcuator, MD

Dr. Roy Torcuator is a neurosurgeon at specializing in general neurosurgery, spine neurosurgery, and neuro-oncology. Dr. Torcuator completed medical school at the University of the East-Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center and neurosurgery residency training at Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center-St. Luke’s Medical Center in the Philippines. He subsequently completed a clinical fellowship in neuro-oncology at the Hermelin Brain Tumor Center, Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, and an image-guided neurosurgery fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He is trained in both aspects of neuro-oncology, medical and surgical. He also has strong interests in brain tumor surgery as well as radiosurgery for brain and spine tumors. He is also adept in handling leptomeningeal carcinomatosis with intra-ommaya chemotherapy. Dr. Torcuator has strong interest and experience with spine decompression and fusion surgeries as well as implantation of spinal cord stimulators, peripheral nerve stimulators, pain pump and SI fusion using Navigation.

Prior to joining Specialty Medical Center, Dr. Torcuator was a staff neurosurgeon at Insight Institute for Neurosurgery and Neuroscience in Flint, MI. He also was a senior staff attending neuro-oncologist at Henry Ford Hospital. He also headed the Comprehensive Brain Tumor Service at St. Luke’s Medical Center, where he was the fellowship director of the neuro-oncology fellowship program and training officer for the neurosurgery residency program as well. Additionally, he was also a clinical associate professor at St. Luke’s Medical Center-William Quasha College of Medicine.

Dr. Torcuator is well published in the field of glioma treatment, radiosurgery, image-guided neurosurgery, spine SBRT, and cerebral radiation necrosis. He also has interest in the use of Tranexamic acid for chronic subdural hematoma.

Dr. Torcuator works with patients to come up with a team-approach treatment plan. He considers the best interest of the patients at all times and treat patients as if his own family.
