Frequently Asked Questions

What types of procedures do we do?

Michigan Spine Specialists are trained to perform a variety of procedures to help alleviate pain and treat these conditions. Some of the most common procedures that we perform include:

  • Spinal fusion:
    • Fusing vertebrae together to stabilize the spine and reduce any pain.
  • Discectomy:
    • Removing a portion of a herniated disc to reduce any pressure on the spinal cord or nerves.
  • Laminectomy:
    • Removing part of the vertebral bone to relieve any pressure that may be on the spinal cord or nerves.
  • Foraminotomy:
    • Removing bone or tissue to widen the space around the nerve roots as they exit the spinal cord.
  • Artificial disc replacement:
    • Replacing a damaged or degenerated disc in the spine using an artificial one.
  • Kyphoplasty:
    • Injecting a cement-like material into a fractured vertebra to brace it and relieve pain.
